Cesar Barajas
Structural Staff Engineer

Cesar was raised in the San Fernando Valley after moving from Jalisco, Mexico.
He graduated in 2022 from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, while working part-time as an Assistant Engineer for a municipal consulting firm in Walnut, CA. During his undergraduate career he led his team in ASCE related events such as the AISC Student Steel Bridge Competition and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers association. He was also involved in the Kellogg Honors College, the community of motivated high achieving students that often-led civic engagement. During his senior year, he received his certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT). Cesar continued his education and graduated in 2023 from the University of California, Berkeley with a Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering and joined CWHPI soon after.
 
Cesar's motivation to pursue structural engineering began when he read this quote “If a doctor doesn’t do their job well, one person dies. If a structural engineer doesn’t do their job well, hundreds of people could die.” With the importance of saving and protecting lives, as a freshman undergraduate student, he often thought of himself as training to be a superhero.

When he is not working, Cesar likes to play piano, run marathons, engage in the Marvel and Star Wars franchise, and enjoy the outdoors with family and friends. In his free time, he loves visiting Disneyland and playing Mario Kart. He continues to give back to his community weekly by performing on the piano at his local church with their choir.
